The Spirit & The Bride

Revelation 22:17 (KJV)
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

The past few years has proven to be a mess when it comes to politics. As a Pastor I have the privilege of ministering to people who are on both sides of the political spectrum. The one thing I have learned is that there are good Christian republicans and good Christian democrats. The sad thing is that we let political issues divide us as a united people. I have learned to stay quiet and pray for my leaders no matter who wins or who is in charge. There is one thing that has happened in the political fiasco is that evangelical has become a bad word.

The word evangelize is very important to me. There is no greater privilege or responsibility than to share the Good News of Jesus Christ with the people of this suffering world. I don't care what political party you belong to or what race you are or how much education, money, or fame you have; everyone needs Jesus. I have preached the Gospel to rich and poor, black and white, liberal and conservative and I have witnessed how each person has an absolute need for the Love of God that is given to us through God's Son. Salvation is for everybody, Grace is for everybody, and God's Holy Spirit ministers to everybody. So I do take issue when the term evangelical is made to be a bad thing. I know it is used as slang to describe a group of people who have set themselves apart and separated themselves as being morally superior to everyone else. This is stereotyping at its worst because it twists the meaning of the word and belittles the true mission of what being an evangelist is all about. The one thing I am sure of is that this world needs Jesus right now. With Jesus comes all of the Godly attributes that goes with it; love, joy, peace, goodness, kindness, faithfulness, and mercy. Yes we need Jesus!

I chose this scripture because it is the perfect formula of how evangelism works. The Holy Spirit works in the Body of Christ (The Church) and disciples are made. Then those disciples who have heard and believed go and become a part of the mission themselves by sharing their testimony of what God has done and is doing in their lives. The mission is for all that hear to come and take of the water of life freely. This preacher says to you "drink in all of Jesus you possibly can, you will never regret it"! Now go evangelize and share Jesus with someone today.
